Overview

Mousely turns your phone into a trackpad for your computer. The app sends local input signals, such as movement, taps, clicks, scrolls, and related settings, from your phone to your computer so the computer can move the cursor. Mousely is not designed to record your screen, read the apps or websites you use, inspect page contents, or tell us what you are doing on your computer.

What we collect today

If you request an app download, we record your email address, submission timestamp, and selected platform so we can provide and improve download access. If you contact us, we collect the information you submit in the contact form, such as your name, email address, topic, and message, so we can reply.

The current app experience is local-first. During normal trackpad use, gesture packets travel between your phone and your computer over Bluetooth Low Energy and/or local-network UDP. Those packets describe input events, not screen contents or the apps, files, pages, or windows you navigate to.

Local transport and security

The current early-access build does not encrypt every local input packet end-to-end at the application layer. Bluetooth pairing and your local Wi-Fi/network environment provide part of the practical security boundary, but local-network UDP traffic should be treated as unencrypted local traffic. Use Mousely only on networks and devices you trust.

We do not operate a cloud service that receives your live cursor movement, taps, clicks, scrolls, screen contents, browser history, app names, window titles, files, or pages. Mousely on your computer turns the packets it receives into operating-system input on that computer.

How we use it

We use download-request and contact information to provide app links, understand platform interest, respond to messages, prevent spam or abuse, and improve Mousely.

Website analytics

We use PostHog on mouse.ly to understand page views, download-button clicks, and whether forms succeed. This helps us improve the download flow and marketing pages. Website analytics do not use cookies or persistent browser storage. PostHog receives these events and ordinary request metadata, such as IP address and browser details. We do not send form contents or email addresses to PostHog. We do not sell personal information.

Native apps (iPhone, Android, Windows) use separate, opt-out product analytics described in each app's settings or privacy materials. Website analytics and app analytics are separate systems.

Where it goes

Download requests may be stored in Google Sheets and Cloudflare KV. Contact messages may be emailed to the Mousely team. Website analytics go to PostHog (US cloud by default). We may use service providers that help us host the website, process forms, prevent spam, store download requests, measure site usage, and deliver email. We do not sell personal information.

Turnstile and abuse prevention

Cloudflare Turnstile may be used when configured to reduce spam. The site also uses honeypot fields and rate limits. These systems may process technical information such as request metadata, browser characteristics, and IP address for security and abuse prevention.

Retention

We keep download-request and contact information for as long as needed to provide access, respond to you, maintain business records, prevent abuse, and comply with legal obligations. We may keep limited security and diagnostic records for shorter periods unless needed to investigate abuse, security, or reliability issues.

Your choices

You can ask us to update or delete your download-request or contact information through the contact form. Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track disable website analytics automatically. You can also disable analytics for this browser below; that choice is saved in local storage so Mousely can remember it.

Children

Mousely is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child provided us personal information, contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The updated version will be posted on this page with a new "Last updated" date. For material changes, we may provide additional notice by email, in-app notice, website notice, or another reasonable method. If a law requires consent for a material change, especially for a change that would apply retroactively to information already collected, we will seek consent where required.
